Specialist Profiles

PointShot’s mission is to bring together every resource that will help athletes grow. That’s why we call our coaches “specialists” — they’re specialized experts in diverse fields. Unlike Athlete profiles, Specialist profiles are verified businesses that list paid services on our marketplace. Your profile is your online storefront: a public-facing home for your resume, certifications, service offerings, and reputation.

Video Coach

Generalists who break down your footage, evaluate, and offer feedback for your development.

Positional Coaches

Get position-specific support and feedback to make you the best at your role.

On-Ice Coaches

Book on-ice sessions or register for camps with coaches in your local area.

Evaluators

Find someone to evaluate your game or assist your team with tryouts and ID skates.

Advisors & Mentors

Gain insight into your next steps and build an action plan with expert guidance.

Mental Performance Coaches

Speak to mental performance experts who can help you achieve your best.

Dieticians & Nutritionists

Fuel your body and maximize recovery with certified experts who can help you meal plan.

Strength & Conditioning Coaches

Work with certified coaches and trainers who can build customized plans for off-ice work.

Marketing Services

From videographers to editors, social media experts, and more. Make a great first impression.

Every Specialist is assigned a tier based on their experience, credentials, and platform track record. Tiers help athletes quickly understand the level of expertise and availability they’re considering, and are displayed as a badge on every Specialist’s profile and marketplace listing.

Platinum

Top-tier coaches with pro experience at the highest levels. Availability may be limited.

Gold

High-level coaches with expertise that’s hard to match and a great rating within our marketplace.

Silver

Specialists with quality experience who have proven themselves in our marketplace.

Bronze

Vetted specialists who are new to the PointShot platform, offering quality, accessible coaching.

Tiers are assigned by PointShot during verification and may be adjusted over time based on customer ratings, transaction history, and ongoing credential standing.

Your public profile is your storefront on PointShot — it’s where athletes and parents discover you, learn about your background, and book your services. All public profiles share a common set of features, which you can read more about in our Public Profiles support article.

Specialist profiles have several sections that make them unique from Athlete profiles:

Resume Cards Your career is showcased in two side-by-side cards on your About tab: one for your Playing history and one for your Coaching history. Entries are date-sorted by default but you can rearrange them however you like, toggle individual entries’ visibility, or hide a card entirely if it’s not relevant to your business.

Certifications & Achievements Display your governing-body certifications, professional credentials, and notable career achievements as cards on your profile. This is where you build credibility with prospective customers — every credential listed here is independent of (and additional to) the verification documents you submit to PointShot during onboarding.

Services TabA dedicated tab on your public profile lists every active service you offer and your general turnaround time, with pricing, recurrence, and a direct “Buy” button that takes the customer through our integrated checkout. This is the primary way athletes purchase from you. Services can be enabled, disabled, edited, or duplicated at any time from your dashboard.

Contact Specialist Button If you opt in to inquiries, a “Contact” button appears in your profile header that lets athletes (or their parents) message you directly through PointShot before booking. This is useful for custom-quoted work, scheduling questions, or qualifying a fit before purchase. You can toggle this setting on or off at any time under Edit Profile → Bio → Basic Info.

Specialists run their coaching business on PointShot. That includes:

  • Listing services on the Marketplace — one-time sessions, recurring packages, video breakdowns, evaluations, and more
  • Accepting customer files, videos, and responses as part of a service order
  • Delivering work back to athletes, including written feedback, annotated video, and development plans
  • Communicating directly with athletes (and their parents, where applicable) through the platform
  • Managing payouts, taxes, and dispute handling through our Stripe Connect integration

PointShot is a marketplace and software platform — Specialists are independent businesses, not employees of PointShot. You set your own prices, define your own service offerings, and are the seller of record for everything you provide. See our Merchant Services Agreement for the full commercial terms.

Becoming a Specialist is a multi-step process:

  1. Create an account and select the “Specialist” profile type after verifying your email.
  2. Submit the required verification documents (see Requirements below). Our team reviews these manually within two business days.
  3. Complete your Stripe Connect onboarding to enable payouts.
  4. Build out your public profile, resume, achievements, and service listings.

Your profile remains hidden from public search until verification is complete. For a step-by-step walkthrough, see the Specialist Profile Setup guide.

To be approved as a Specialist, you must provide the following:

  • Governing body certification (e.g. USA Hockey, Hockey Canada, or an equivalent national or regional body for your sport)
  • SafeSport certification (or the equivalent program from your governing body)
  • Proof of a recent background check — typically issued alongside your governing body certification
  • Domain-specific licenses or certifications required by law for the services you offer (e.g. registered dietitian, certified strength and conditioning specialist, licensed mental health professional)
  • Professional liability insurance, with PointShot, Inc. named as an additional insured

Specialists who work with minors must maintain SafeSport (or equivalent) status in good standing at all times, and must notify us immediately if their certification, licensure, or background check status changes. See Terms of Service §3.3 and MSA §11 for the full requirements.
