Specialist Profile Setup

The profile setup process for Specialists is more involved than for Athletes because you’re setting up a verified, paid business. For the basics shared by every profile type (photo, bio, socials), start with the general profile setup guide.

Once you’ve registered, your public profile is hidden until PointShot completes manual verification. This step ensures every specialist upholds our quality standards, holds the appropriate certifications, has their business set up, and is legally cleared to work with minors.

PointShot support will reach out within two business days via email and request the following required documents:

  • Governing body certification (e.g. USA Hockey, Hockey Canada, etc.)
  • Certificate of SafeSport or equivalent program from your governing body
  • Proof of recent background check (usually provided alongside your governing body certification)
  • Applicable licenses or certifications specific to your domain expertise
  • Certificate of professional liability insurance, with PointShot, Inc. named as an additional insured

In certain situations, we may schedule a phone call or online meeting for further information. We’re also happy to meet and provide guidance on any of the above.

Governing Body Certifications

In certain situations, non-national governing bodies like high school leagues may be acceptable. Some of these leagues may also require background checks, which may be acceptable for PointShot’s purposes. Please contact us to discuss.

Insurance Requirements

PointShot requires every specialist to carry professional liability insurance. We understand this can be a confusing process — please contact us if you need help getting started.

While manual verification is in progress, you can continue building out your public profile. Your profile is your business’s primary online presence on PointShot, so it’s worth taking the time to showcase what makes you an expert. Complete each section under Edit Profile.
