Athlete Profiles
What is an Athlete Profile?
Section titled “What is an Athlete Profile?”Athlete profiles on PointShot are completely free of charge and are open to all parents and athletes. These accounts come packed with features to help you better understand the development pathway, how you play, and what it takes to reach the next level. Key highlights include:
- Your Public Profile, which is your online presence to showcase your skills, achievements, clips, and progression
- An integrated Video Editor and annotation tool where you can break down your own games, drills, and highlights
- A searchable Marketplace of specialized experts to train you and guide you along your path
Your Public Profile
Section titled “Your Public Profile”Your public profile is more than just a list of highlights for scouting purposes. It provides important context for specialists, too, as any good educator wants to understand how you learn and what makes you tick. All public profiles share a common set of features, which you can learn more about in our Public Profiles support article.
Athlete profiles have some additional sections that make them unique from Specialist profiles:
Awards & Achievements
Showcase your most notable achievements and awards thus far, whether it’s sports-related,
academic, or in your community.
My Game
Describe how you play in a few sentences and select your top skills, which are shown as badges.
Goals & Aspirations
Share a few sentences about where you want to go in your journey, how you plan to get there, and
what your expected next steps are.
Academics
You’re not just an athlete. You’re also a student, and scouts want to know that you study hard and
are coachable. Share your school, GPA, and other academic highlights. And, if you’re further along
in high school, share your desired major for college, too.
Teams Tab
Showcase your playing history and highlight your team’s achievements each season.
Finding Specialists
Section titled “Finding Specialists”The primary purpose of PointShot is to help Athletes access the support they need to grow. That’s why we’ve created a marketplace where you can find specialists, from all over the world and across many different disciplines, to help you reach your goals.
To begin your search, click on Marketplace in the top navigation bar. You’ll be taken to the Specialist Search page where you can browse by name, tier, and discipline. You can also search by name if you’re looking for someone specific.
Coming soon, we’ll also have more granular filtering options and sub-specialties to help you find the perfect coach for your needs.
Learn more about tiers and the types of specialists in the Specialist Profiles help article.
Clipping Your Own Video
Section titled “Clipping Your Own Video”The greatest gift you can give an athlete is self-awareness. That’s why we offer our video editor completely free to our athletes—so that you can break down and learn from your own footage.
Our video tool also helps you prepare your footage for working with specialists. Some coaches may want to see specific situations rather than a whole game, or they may want to see how you think through certain plays. When you attach a broken-down video to a service, you can select and share any clips you’ve already created in addition to the primary video.
Check out our Video Editor help article for more information on how to use this feature.
Tracking Your Progress
Section titled “Tracking Your Progress”As you work with specialists and add more data each season, your profile will evolve. It becomes a way to track your growth over the course of, and across, seasons—through video, development plans, your write-ups, feedback, and more.
As PointShot evolves, too, we’re continuing to develop a variety of tools to help you track your progress and stay on top of your goals. Keep an eye out for updates!
